Pre-Grammar

In our Pre-Grammar level we welcome children ages 4-5.

Our program is rooted in virtue. The youngest scholars will be exposed to the truth, goodness and beauty of the Catholic Schoolhouse program. This program prepares them to learn week by week along side their other siblings now, and sets them up for future success in the Grammar program.

This program is made to be flexible. It allows us to adapt for the ages of the students. At this level, we will not and should not expect mastery out of the children. The focus of pre-grammar is to be experiential, relaxed, fun, and joyful.

Their lessons and activities correspond with the Tour Guide and Memory work. They will be exposed to some of the same concepts and skills as grammar students with the emphasis being on the current tour, Saints, Geography, Art and Science. In LA-CSH they also have the ability to go out of their classroom for hands on art and science. The children will also have repeated opportunities in show-and-tell to prepare them for presentations in the Grammar level.

The children in pre-grammar have hands on play time, music, practice of letter recognition through crafts, and will also be introduced to weather, calendar and the catechism.
