About our Chapter

Hello and welcome to Lake Arthur Catholic Schoolhouse Chapter. We’re glad you stopped by!

LA-CSH is a local chapter that is comprised by twelve families and growing. Our chapter as of now includes, Nursery Level, Pre-Grammar Level, Grammar level, and new this year a Dialectic Level.

  • Our Nursery option is for our littlest ones, babies to age 3.
  • Our Pre-Grammar option is for preschool-Kindergarten aged children, ages 4-5 years.
  • Our Grammar option is for our elementary aged children, first through sixth grade.
  • Our newest option, Dialectic is for our middle school aged children, seventh through ninth grade.

Our chapter meets on Wednesdays at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Oustalet Center. We follow the Catholic Schoolhouse tour guide with a three week on and a one week off schedule. Our off week is built in for breaks and field trips. Our school year begins late August and runs through the end of April with all major holiday breaks.

Our days begin at 8:30 a.m. with Prayer, Pledge and Chorus. We then follow on to two hours of structured memory work lessons and class time. Students will also have an additional thirty minutes of hands on Art and Science. We then finish our day around 11:45 a.m. with prayer and optional 12 noon mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Our chapter also includes a lot of fun events to promote community. Every quarter we try to have a night out. These include Mom’s Night, Dad’s Night, Couples Night, and Family Events. We have Advent and End of Year showcases, community lunch and play time after our formal chapter days end and much more.

At LA-CSH our parents play a crucial role in the success of our chapter and our students learning. We are not a drop-off program, a parent or guardian are required to stay with their children throughout the duration of the chapter day. Parents or guardians will assist in running our chapter days in ways of being a class leaders, parent helpers, nursery leaders, science and art leaders, and anywhere a helping hand is needed.

Catholic Schoolhouse can be easily and seamlessly added on to your homeschooling  by becoming what we call, the spine curriculum, a supplemental curriculum, or you can use our chapter days for community, while also having complete faith in a program that you can trust being introduced to your children.

Catholic Schoolhouse is more than just a day our of the house. It is great blessing to our homeschooling families and the Catholic community in Jeff Davis Parish and Southwest Louisiana. Our program strives to encourage catholic community and virtue through learning what is True, Good and Beautiful.

Here’s a couple questions to ask yourself:

  • Are you looking for a classical Catholic program?
  • Do you desire a consistent, Catholic peer group for your children, the kind that builds lasting relationships and encouragement?
  • Do you feel burned out and are looking for ways to bring joy back to your homeschool?
  • Do you feel like you are juggling too many things and missing family unity?
  • Would you like to meet other parents with like-minded goals to share your journey?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information and see if Catholic Schoolhouse is a good fit for your family. I know it has be a wonderful fit for my family. It has brought structure to our days, and has reaped many fruits.

May God Bless you, and your homeschool journey.
